PROJECT OVERVIEW
ELEVATOR PITCH
"Naru, a young healer from the Otomí tribe, sees a falling light, believed a sign from the god of war. Despite her healer training, Naru aspires to become a legendary warrior, the Human Shadow.
To prove herself, she must convince her father, the village chief, to let her pursue this path. If not, Naru embarks on a perilous journey across her island to Mictlan, Mictlantecutli's realm, where only the god of war can judge her courage."
GOAL
My objective was to leverage my expertise as a level designer to create an immersive gaming experience that thrusts players into Naru's transformative journey from healer to warrior in a lush, narrative-driven world.
Additionally, I set focus in mastering techniques for loading and unloading entire sections of the world seamlessly to optimize performance without compromising player immersion. This involved numerous design iterations focusing on sight lines, pacing, and overall level composition to ensure a smooth gameplay experience.

With a keen focus on level design, I crafted diverse and dynamic environments within the game, seamlessly integrating narrative elements with engaging gameplay mechanics.
Through meticulous attention to detail, I aimed to deliver a rich and atmospheric experience, allowing players to explore the lush landscapes of a remote Pacific island while uncovering Naru's compelling story of self-discovery and courage.
A remote tropical island in the pacific ocean, close to the Americas in the X century.
There is a sense of adventure, wildness, and risk. A coming-of-age story that has the grandiose volcanic landscape and tropical flora/fauna as the backstage. A journey through a time lost in our human history, from the Naru’s eyes.
