"Defy the gods of Vallhala by stealing Särimner to bring back to your viking village!"
GOAL
Our first game project at The Game Assembly. For many of us, this was the first time-ever developing a game within an interdisciplinary group.
This project was all about getting to know the agile philosophy, find a suitable way to collaborate with your team members, learned the basics of TGA's game development pipeline, and getting to apply the essentials of each of our correspondent disciplines in a collaborative game project.

DESIGN FOCUS
Our focus was on crafting a captivating and fast-paced side-scrolling game with an endless runner twist.
Drawing inspiration from classic Mario-style platformers, our game incorporated rhythmic jumping mechanics, adding depth and engagement to the player's experience
A key design feature was the dynamic level layout, which shifted midway through each stage, introducing new challenges and enhancing replayability.

REFLECTIONS
Emphasizing Soft Skills
Viking Rush marked the beginning of our journey into game development at The Game Assembly. It was a whirlwind experience, introducing us to agile methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.
One of the most significant lessons was the importance of soft skills in a diverse team setting.
Embracing Agile
Navigating tight deadlines and schedules required us to embrace the agile philosophy fully.
It became evident that effective communication was paramount to avoid clashes and misunderstandings.
A Tale of Resilience and Growth
Despite the challenges, Viking Rush was a crash course in game development, setting the stage for the demanding yet rewarding years ahead at TGA.
It taught us resilience, adaptability, and the value of teamwork in overcoming obstacles. Overall, it was an invaluable learning experience that laid the foundation for our future projects.
